For undergraduate and high school students seeking summer internship opportunities in marine and fisheries science, application deadlines often come up in February.  Here is a list of 8 relevant opportunities and programs mostly with Feb application of deadlines which may be of interest.   *   Summary:  Provides successful undergraduate applicants with awards that include academic assistance (up to $9,500 per year) for two years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid ($700/week) internship at a NOAA facility during the summer.
  *   Who Should apply:   Undergraduates who are US citizens enrolled or accepted at an accredited college or university within the United States or U.S. territories as either: 1) a full-time 2nd year student in a four-year undergraduate program; 2) a full-time 3rd year student in a five-year undergraduate program; or 3) a community college or transfer student who is applying to a four-year institution

During the second summer, students complete a 10 week paid internships at NOAA facilities across the country.
  *   Who Should apply:   Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals,  enrolled as a full-time 2nd year student in a four-year academic program; or transferring from a two-year to a four-year institution; or a 3rd year student in a five-year program and studying a discipline related to NOAA's programs and mission at an accredited minority serving institution (college or university within the United States or U.S. territories).

African American, Hispanic American, Native American, Asian Pacific Island, and Alaska Native students are particularly encouraged to apply.  Priority is given to entering juniors and seniors majoring in the natural sciences or engineering, mathematics, or social sciences. Applicants must also have completed some course work in either oceanography, biology, or marine and/or environmental science.

The summer 2021 C-StREAM internship program run May 24, 2021 - August 13, 2021. All C-StREAM Fellows will receive a stipend up to $6,000 ($500/week).
  *   Who Should apply:   C-StREAM is intended for any continuing undergraduate, at any level of study (including seniors pursuing graduate studies in the fall) who identifies as being one or both of the following: a person of color and/or a first generation college student.

The program is open to all current high school sophomores, juniors and seniors regardless of race, creed, or gender.  Encourages students from minority backgrounds to submit applications.

  *   Summary:  A summer program designed to recruit and train high school students, particularly from underrepresented groups, in various geoscience fields.The program offers a 6-week paid internship for students planning to pursue careers in a field of geoscience. The program includes lectures, field trips, hands-on activities, 1 course for college credit (math), bi-weekly seminars, housing, meals, travel to and from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and a stipend.
  *   Who Should apply:  Graduating High School seniors who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in a geoscience discipline; priority is given to students planning to attend a NOAA Cooperative Science Center academic partner.
