I asked one of the CampusAD Exchange SysAdmins that question specifically, last week. In the CampusAD mail system they cannot guarantee that the message will remain encrypted all the way from sender to recipient. It may not remain encrypted during storage, or in communications between some of the servers that make up the Exchange architecture. So, like many security questions, the answer is, "It depends." Thanks. And that seems sane enough but we don't require that students physically appear if they are/have been MSU student employees. All the local entry "paperwork" staff want is the APID. Then once the hire paperwork has gotten through HR once for ISP Dean, that same student still has to be "hired" by 6 other units/projects not all in the same building so they can charge their time specifically to the unit receiving their work. I gather my plan should be to bring the student in regardless of whether they are in the MSU HR system then bring them back [...]

Somebody provide me with the specific links to implement the quote below when hiring a new student:

“Our office has been instructed that A-PIDs cannot be transmitted via e-mail in combination with a student's name. Combining the two elements provides enough information to lead to identity theft.”

We’ve always gotten the PID from the student via email and provided it to all who need it in ISP (usually 5-6 people) for the full hiring of that student. [...]

tl;dr: if importing an SSL certificate in IIS 7.x you receive the message "Cannot find the certificate request associated with this certificate file..." the certificate was imported successfully, just click Cancel and press "F5" to refresh the list to see it.

This is a known issue, for more detail see http://www.digicert.com/ssl-certificate-installation-microsoft-iis-7.htm. This just happened with an SSL certificate that I purchased through IT Services. [...]

They have some free courses, but the rest require a monthly $20 subscription. They currently have a free, two-day Hall Pass which allows you access to all of their stuff. It's interesting that at least one of these dimensions that of port 465 does not work, to try port 587.

I think this brings up an interesting idea though, as I don't know of any central resource for application development here on campus to find information like this. If we had something like this it could have a section that talks about sending email from your applications, maybe even including code snippets for the different languages. [...]

None of my outgoing traffic is blocked on my development environment.

If it really does work on 587, that should be documented on IT Services' pages. I don't know who we need to talk to about doing that, but hopefully someone at ITS is paying attention to this thread. We wound up implementing it using GMail, and it works fine like that. There wouldn't be much gain for this application to switch back to using MSU (confusing recipients) at this point, but I'll keep it in mind for future applications. [...]

IMHO I don't think it would as you're not receiving a certificate of completion (or the equivalent) from this exam question & answer testing software. However if you take the actual test from the vendor, such as the Security+, and have been pre-approved by HR then it should be reimbursed. [...]

The way Julie states it, you'd have to identify a course in the TestKing.com site, get it pre-approved, take it, and get a certificate or something that proves you took it and then it would be reimbursed. But if it wasn't pre-approved and without a certificate, probably not.

I'm sure you all saw this yesterday, but just in case you'd didn't, Google Chrome is forking the WebKit rendering engine and calling it Blink. More info at http://blog.chromium.org/2013/04/blink-rendering-engine-for-chromium.html

They say they won't use CSS vendor prefixes and since it's base is on the current WebKit rendering engine it should work the same as Chrome does today. [...]
