MSU Email Addresses Retry Limit Exceeded

Hmmm... to state the obvious - it will help the mail team investigate if IT Services Support is contacted contemporaneously with the issues. There were some issues like this a number of weeks ago, before Spring semester ended. Haven't noticed any more reports until this thread. /L

I've notice over the last several weeks a number of periods of time where MSU's system has been tempfailing incoming email, generally with messages about too many simultaneous smtp connections. We've got a number of systems that send mail to people in our departments, and I've seen times when the queue to send those emails builds up while those issues happen. My guess is the retry limit exceeded are for those that get particularly bad luck with when the attempts come in such that they hit a number of attempts with this tempfail. [...]

Customers of one of our Labs that deals with the public are getting these errors while sending emails to MSU email addresses. I don't know maybe it has something to do with the SPAM filter testing.

Already put in help desk ticket regarding the matter. More data on the extent of the problem might help. [...]
