General Description:
State
Representative Marcia Hovey-Wright is elected to represent constituents of the
92nd District in the Michigan House of Representatives. Her district
includes
Interns
will be expected to provide assistance to the Representative and members of her
staff on communications, social media, constituent affairs, general office
management and miscellaneous affairs. Students will gain experience in a
fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
may include: answering phones, monitoring legislation, issues research, social
media posts and written correspondence to groups and individuals within the
92nd District. Interns with journalism experience may be asked to help
write press releases, talking points, and make media phone calls. Interns
with transportation may be given opportunities to attend events and help with
projects in the district.
School
Credit, if applicable
Availability:
We
are currently hiring interns for all of the 2012 semesters. Office hours
are Monday through Friday 9:00am-5:00. Interns can work full or
part-time, minimum of 16 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must
be a student enrolled in a community college or university. Excellent
telephone, written communication skills and a positive attitude are
required. Strong letter writing skills are necessary (writing sample by
the applicant must be provided). Knowledge of the legislature and the
legislative process is a plus, but not required. Computer and knowledge
of Microsoft office applications is required. Facility with social media
is highly desired.
