Preview Exam
The Department of Natural Resources is dedicated to the preservation, protection, effective management, and maintenance of Wisconsin's natural resources. The Division of Land, Bureau of Wildlife Management is seeking an Upland Wildlife and Farm Bill Specialist.
Location: This position will be located in downtown Madison, WI.
Job Duties : This position will develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the statewide upland wildlife habitat, population, and harvest management programs for public and private lands. This will be accomplished in cooperation with other federal and county governments, other state agencies, and other public and private organizations. A major responsibility of this position is to decide what projects will be funded and staffed through the Pheasant Stamp and Turkey Stamp accounts. This position will write strategic plans for management of upland wildlife species. This position will also develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the Department's policies on farm programs that affect wildlife, and will serve as Wildlife Management's representative to the USDA on all farm bills affecting habitat on private lands. The incumbent will also serve as the liaison to Wisconsin's congressional delegation on federal farm bill issues.
Special Notes : Frequent statewide travel and occasional out-of-state travel will be required.
