I
am sending this to you on behalf of Burt Bargerstock.
In
January 2008 Dave Gift, Vice Provost for Libraries, Computing & Technology,
introduced the Communities for Advising, Facilitating, and Enabling (CAFÉ) at
Michigan State University. Three longtime members of the MSU Webmasters group
saw an opportunity to organize the Webmasters as a CAFÉ. The goal was to
broaden the reach of the group to all professionals engaged in Web-related work
at MSU, foster a sense of community, and generate some new energy around
discussions and activities of common interest. A proposal was written and
submitted, which Dave approved on May 17, 2009, creating the MSU Web
Development CAFÉ (MSU WebDev CAFÉ). A description of the CAFÉ is available on
the LC&T Web site at: http://lct.msu.edu/cafes/communitylist.html.
All MSU Web professionals are invited to participate in the CAFÉ’s monthly
planning meetings and campus-wide quarterly forums. More information will be
sent to you in the near future about the dates/times/locations of these
meetings.
As
part of this process of moving the CAFÉ forward, the owner of the MSU
Webmasters e-mail list agreed to merge with the new WebDev CAFÉ list. Effective
5:00pm today the MSU Webmasters list will cease to exist, with all
subscriptions and archived messages transferred to the WebDev CAFÉ list. If you
do not wish to participate in the new list, please feel free to remove your
subscription from the Web Dev CAFÉ list (e-mail a message to [log in to unmask]">[log in to unmask] in which the body
of the message is: SIGNOFF WEBDEVCAFE).
