Description of duties
Primary duties of this position are to manage Florida's State Wildlife Grants program and to serve on a leadership team for Florida's Wildlife Legacy Initiative. This position is responsible for administering the State Wildlife Grant program for Florida, a federally funded matching grants program. This includes coordinating with USFWS Federal Aid, writing grant proposals and applications, coordinating the grant review process and compliance, monitoring grant activities including progress and budgets, writing program and project reports, insuring successful completion and closure of grant projects, providing technical assistance to grantees, and maintaining and controlling access to historical grant files and resources for auditing purposes.
Secondary Duties:
. Conduct activities for implementation and evaluation of the Wildlife Action Plan, including adherence to eight elements and other federal guidance, statewide monitoring, and regional activities that are consistent with the priorities of the Action Plan.
. Conduct partnership development and outreach for the Initiative. This includes developing partnership programs and preparing and conducting presentations, talks, and similar functions to increase public support for, and professional use and implementation of the Action Plan.
. Conduct other duties as assigned. Participate in immediate resolution for short-term and unexpected problems as they arise; identify, plan for, and implement solutions to long-term and high-priority conservation issues associated with the Initiative.

When appropriate, employees will explain the reasons for agency actions or decisions while communicating a consistent FWC point-of-view.
Responsible for following the provisions and requirements in Section 215.422, Florida Statutes, related to the Comptroller's rules and FWC's invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.
Work at FWC is cross-functional meaning duties may cross division/office lines. The Commission expects employees to function across FWC's organizational structure by providing their skills and expertise wherever needed through work on teams or as directed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Performance of these duties requires that this employee possess a solid working knowledge of grants program management. The employee should also possess knowledge of the principles of wildlife biology, ecology, and conservation. The employee must have strong skills in administration and organization including time and information management, written and oral communication, interpersonal relations, and problem solving. The employee must be experienced in the use of computers for word processing, information management, communications, and data management.
