This is a temporary position not-to-exceed 1 year. The appointment may be
extended without further announcement. Maximum total appointment will not
exceed 2 years. This position is located at the Entiat National Fish
Hatchery, Entiat, Washington. Entiat National Fish Hatchery is a sub-office
of the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery and is located in central
Washington about 24 miles north of Wenatchee in Chelan County. The mission
of Entiat National Fish Hatchery is to produce high quality salmon smolts
commensurate with the production goals established by the Columbia River

KEY REQUIREMENTS

*	U.S. Citizenship and Background Investigation 
*	Ability to swim and snorkel
*	Valid driver's license
*	Must wear official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uniform
*	Ability to lift and carry over 50 pounds of weight for short
distances 
*	Extensive travel - 14 nights per month for approximately 4 months

DUTIES:

.  Conduct field investigations for habitat analysis and species and habitat
restoration using active collection methods. Active methods may include the
use of electrofishing equipment, seine and nets, trawls, and dredges. This
may also require snorkeling for direct observation. 

*	Conduct field investigations for habitat analysis and species and
habitat restoration using passive collection methods. Passive collection
methods used may include gill nets, hoop nets, fyke nets, and rotary screw
traps. 

.  Perform a variety of computations and assessment of standard biological
data to prepare the data for interpretative use or inclusion in biological
reports.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

You must meet all qualification requirements outlined in this vacancy by
11:59 PM (EST) on the closing date of the announcement.

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent
to at least GS-4 level. Specialized experience is described as experience
related to the work of the position for which application is made. Examples
of qualifying specialized experience include conducting field investigations
for habitat analysis and species and habitat restoration using both active
and passive collection methods; operation of rotary screw trap
electrofishing equipment, and other juvenile fish trapping methods

(OR)

Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's
degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of
scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics,
entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics.
At least 6 semester hours of courses must be directly related to fishery
subjects, such as fishery biology, ichthyology, limnology, aquaculture, etc.
