Description of Duties:
South Florida Aquatic Management Project seeks an avian ecologist to join a
multidisciplinary team actively implementing habitat restoration and
management strategies on Lake Okeechobee, Florida. Primary responsibilities
of this position will focus on developing management strategies that enhance
habitat for wading birds and waterfowl, and assessing response of avifauna
to managed or restored littoral zone and shallow marsh habitats. Candidates
should have experience in moist soil management, working in lake and
associated wetland systems, and demonstrated knowledge of metrics that are
useful in evaluating response of water birds to habitat management or
restoration. Knowledge of wetland ecology, avian ecology, statistics, and
strong oral and written communication skills are required.

ecology.
