Genesee Conservation District Forester
Part-time position 32-36 hours a week. $15-17 Hourly wage based on experience. Position is grant funded with opportunities to develop program.
Position includes the following tasks:
o Coordinates Tree Sale Program and/or other Native Species Sale
§ Order merchandise and formulate cost for resale
§ Design and distribute order information and forms
§ Compile orders
§ Advertise and market sale
§ Packaging, distribution & sale
o Report monthly at GCD board meetings
o Research and submit grants that develop GCD’s Urban Forestry Program
o Promote GCD’s Urban Forestry Program
o Develop partnerships with community organizations that create opportunities for program development and funding
o Organize and execute community/volunteer tree plantings and maintenance
o Maintain and update street tree management plan
o Develop and execute wood utilization program
o Keep record and generate reports on existing grants as needed for meeting grant requirements
This position reports directly to Genesee Conservation District Board of Directors
A.S. degree in the field of forestry or a B.S degree in a natural resources related field (including forestry), from an accredited college or university. Experience in Urban Forestry and Staff Management preferred. Field skills and own vehicle required. Registered Forester and ISA certification preferred.
Applicant should also have strong communication skills including public speaking; ability to work collaboratively, maintaining transparency and good communication; experience with basic computer and web-based technologies (such as word processing, databases, and web searches); and a record of reliability. Must past government security clearance and be willing to work in all areas of Flint.
