1 GS-4 Biological Science Technicians (Wildlife) needed to conduct acoustic
surveys and insect sampling as part of a study to examine the effects of oak
regeneration techniques on bat habitat use and activity in Cold Mountain
Game Lands near Asheville, NC. Duties include deployment of bat detectors
and insect traps, downloading echolocation data, labeling insect samples,
and maintaining records.  Hours are irregular (early mornings and late
evenings). Qualifications include 1 year of college course credits in the
biological or natural resource sciences (GS-4) or equivalent experience and
ability to work in rugged conditions (steep slopes, rutted roads).  Previous
experience with bats is not required.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens,
have a valid driver's license, and have a good driving record.  Position is
associated with the USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station in
