The Bureau of Fisheries Management and Habitat in the Department of Natural
Resources is recruiting for Fisheries Technicians to work in the Fish
Hatcheries (Propagation), or with Fisheries Biologists (Creel Census Clerk),
and Management. The register created from this examination will be used to
fill statewide vacancies as they occur within the next 12 months.
Fish Propagation Technician: Participate in the spawning of various game
fish; forage minnow and zooplankton collection and distribution; propagation
and rearing of cool/cold water fish species; disease control; harvest and
distribution of fish to lakes and streams; and maintenance of facilities,
grounds and equipment. Participate in the rearing of fish in hatcheries and
ponds which includes chemical treatments, monitoring and controlling of
rearing environments, and the feeding process.
Creel Census Clerk: Perform creel census by recording fishing pressure
counts, interviewing anglers, collecting and summarizing biological data.
Fisheries Management Technician: Work with operations crew constructing and
maintaining netting gear and equipment; performing warm/cool/cold water
propagation activities; performing habitat development and habitat
maintenance on State properties and easements; perform a variety of
development and implementation activities which includes conducting lake and
stream field surveys, and serves as an assistant to a Fisheries Biologist or
Supervisor.
