Good afternoon,
Let me respond to April and Kelly's question first, then I'll do the best I
can with Craig's questions.
During our monthly meetings (September and October), we planned to include a
presentation on Cascade Server as part of the Forum. One of our colleagues
from ATS attended the October meeting and we kind of "volunteered her" to
present on it. I contacted ATS as I began to finalize the speakers for the
program, to more formally invite a presentation on Cascade Server and allow
them to identify a speaker for us. While they wanted to participate, and
remain very supportive of the CAFÉ, the timing wasn't right for them. On
our behalf, I offered them the opportunity to present Cascade Server at a
later date and they graciously accepted. So, while I am sorry that we won't
have the opportunity to hear from them next week, we did reach out to them,
and will hear from them sometime in the future. I hope this explanation
helps and I apologize for any confusion; please feel free to contact me
directly with any additional questions or concerns.
We still have a very strong program and, as we approach Thanksgiving, I am
very thankful to those volunteering their time to make presentations for us
next week.
Take Care,
Burt

I apologize, because this was probably answered in the webdev cafe meetings,
but why isn't Cascade Server represented?

Also, could there be a brief statement during the forum regarding the status
of Cascade Server? I recall from the last meeting that it might be one of
the presentations, but it was not on the final agenda. For me, whether I
adopt one of the open source content management systems depends in large
part on whether Cascade will be available campus-wide in the next few months
… and whether it will fulfill my needs. Would much rather migrate my content
once, rather than twice.
Thanks also,
April Allison

Good afternoon,
Please see the attached flyer announcing the MSU WebDev CAFÉ's fall forum.
Our overall theme will be Considering Content Management Systems and the
program will feature presentations by a number of colleagues about the
features, strengths, and weaknesses of various systems. Mark your calendars
now for Wednesday December 1, 2010, 2:00pm, 145 Communication Arts and
Sciences Bldg. It promises to be a great event!
Please forward this flyer to MSU faculty, staff, students, and groups who
you think would be interested. Share info about the forum through your
social networks on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, whatever. Consider hanging
a copy of it on your office door or departmental bulletin board. By working
together, we hope to draw a good attendance.
I look forward to seeing you all at the forum!
Take Care,
Burt
