From: Hummel, Raymond - Big Rapids, MI [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Tuesday, October 05, 2010 2:32 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Summer Job Opportunities Importance: High Jim, Below are some job opportunities in an area that may be overlooked by many FW students but may be of interest. As a past FW student I took part in this program and enjoyed it. The student trainee position would give experience with a federal agency that could expose students to situations such as addressing on farm issues such as soil erosion, manure management, and pesticide use. Many counties also deal with lots of wetland restorations, tree & shrub plantings, and native warm season grass plantings. The major focus in most counties is agriculture related but wildlife habitat management is also quite common. The position would allow students to be exposed to many natural resources topics, some contract management, and ARC GIS. I'm not sure if you already get NRCS jobs from someone or if this is of interest but I thought that in this day and age the more job opportunities the better. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
