JOB POSTING

 
 
JOB TITLE:  NATURE CENTER PROGRAMMER
 
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:          Special Services/Recreation 
 
EMPLOYEE GROUP:        General/ Part-time
 
STARTING DATE: April 2010 
 
HOURLY RATE:     $12.00- $15.00 depending on qualifications and experience. 
 
WORK SCHEDULE:    30+ hrs per week, work schedule will vary.  Nature Center
is a Monday- Sunday operation.        
 
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience in outdoor programming, environmental
education or related experience.
 
SPECIAL TRAINING AND SKILLS:  Excellent oral and written communications
skills as well as good organizational skills are required. Valid MI driver's
license with good driving record. 
 
EDUCATION:  Bachelor's degree in environmental education, interpretation,
biology, outdoor recreation, recreation management or related degrees. 
 
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Farmington Hills Special
Services Recreation Division, oversees operations and maintenance of the
Farmington Hills Nature Center (in Heritage Park).  Programmer will develop
and implement Nature Center outreach and education programs, develop self
guided activities, assist with the production and updating of trail guides,
coordinate and manage group visits, monitor and update displays within the
Nature Center,  coordinate and implement various special events and programs
related to the Nature Center, develop, manage, and train staff and volunteer
groups, create partnerships with contractual employees and outside
organizations, and assist with other duties related to the Nature Center as
needed.
