Ph.D. or M.S. assistanship, regional climate change impacts, Univ. North
Dakota 

Graduate Research Assistantship is available at the Department of Earth
System Science and Policy (ESSP, http://essp.und.edu) at the University of
North Dakota. The students interested in doing research in estimation of
historical and anticipated impacts of climate change on natural and
agricultural systems are invited to apply. 

An ideal applicant would have an applicable background in natural science
with interest in remote sensing, GIS, numerical simulations, and/or
environmental modeling. Applications from the students majoring in
statistics, computer or physical science who exhibit interests in working
with environmental applications are also strongly encouraged. 

A successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team of faculty
and students on one of the ESSP projects. The ESSP academic program
emphasizes teaching the components of the earth system science and policy
and applying the knowledge to address environmental sustainability issues.
The program includes gaining practical experience in using GIS and remote
sensing. 

The assistantships are offered at the M.S. or Ph.D. levels and come with a
GRA and tuition waiver. University campus is located in Grand Forks, a
community of about 50000 on the North Dakota - Minnesota border, which
provides abundant cultural and recreational opportunities.
