Your understanding is correct. The forwarding and vacation features are
not yet implemented in beta.mail.msu.edu, they will go live on December
22nd, 2008 when beta.mail.msu.edu becomes mail.msu.edu. The reason for
this is because we will be utilizing a different method for handling
these pieces of information. Currently .forwards and vacation messages
are read out of a flat file in a non-quota'd directory full of
preferences. This is changing to be read directly out of a database.
I am not certain as to the exact location within the new webmail where
users will find this new feature.
