Any chance we could get sftp?

SFTP is the one I usually see as an option in commercial software 
(Macromedia Contribute, Dreamweaver etc).  I could probably figure out 
ftps and use it on occasion, but I am more concerned about the 
thousands of faculty/staff/students that use ftp (possibly without even 
knowing it) and send their passwords in clear text.
