Really though, it isn't as if we would be forced to use it. It was only
presented as an alternative to the mailing list. I can't see why giving
nag members an alternative form of collaboration is such a bad thing.
IRC is a relatively mature(read old :-) ) form of chat. It has client
software for every platform that you can think of. We use it in my
office to collaborate with other groups both onsite and offsite. We have
found that it is a great way to exchange information, ask for help, and
get opinions.
Again, I don't think it is being presented as a replacement for the
mailing list and nobody is saying that you would be forced to use it,
nobody is saying that we think you should use it, nobody is trying to
say that it is better than the mailing list. Ed is just seeing if people
would be interested in using it.
