I believe the cost runs roughly $20.00 per student per year.
I know the fee has to be paid for every student.

It is an issue periodically at some campuses as it tends to be charged as a
mandatory software access fee, that some folks don't want to pay since they
already have an OS and word processor.

Please don't be a stranger, and if you can, let us know what the consensus
is when the contract is re-evaluated in the third year.

Also there is this, from the Microsoft FAQ at that wide spot in the road:

16. For faculty and staff members using the software on their personal
systems, are there any stipulations from Microsoft on how they can use the
software?
According to the master Microsoft Select Program contract and its Addendum,
the software on a faculty/staff member's personal system may only be used
for work-related purposes.

And this:

25. Why do students fill out a different license agreement than faculty and
staff?
As an eligible student, you are receiving a full and complete license to the
software. However, faculty and staff have much more limited rights. First,
they must be employed by the University and use this software in their
office. If at any time they leave the employment of the University, all
rights to the software end and they must remove it from their personal
computer. In effect, the license a faculty or staff uses at home is still
owned by the University not by the individual employee and this software is
being temporarily provided on their home computer so that they can complete
employment related duties. When employment ends, all rights to the software
end.

Please don't be a stranger, and if you can, let us know what the consensus
is when the contract is re-evaluated in the third year.
