A new virus and worm combination was discoved October 25, 2001. The e-mail
worm called Klez infects computers with the ElKern virus which damages files.
Klez uses the same Outlook and Outlook Express weakness as nimda for
automatic execution. More information can be found in the Virus Alerts
section of the MSU Security Portal, or here:

http://security/cgi-bin/index.pl?virus/elkern.html

At least one department on campus has been infected with this new malicious
code.
